Crafting a Design Award Submission – Panel discussion

AIA Greenville in partnership with SMPS Palmetto present a peak behind the scenes on how past jury members have assessed submissions.

As we look forward to the 2023 AIAG Design Awards, AIA Greenville and SMPS want to provide a peak behind the scenes on what goes in the room with the jury picking the winners. Join us virtually June 8 at 11:30-1:00 to hear from a panel of past AIAG Design Jury members about their experience reviewing the design award project submissions. Ask what aspects of the submission stood out to them and how they define a winning project.

Meet our past lead jury members:

Tracy S. Carusi AIA, LEED AP

Tracy was lead juror for AIA Greenville 2021 Design Awards , is an Atlanta architect and was a Principal at Collins Cooper Carusi Architects for 29 years before recently retiring as President/CEO. After 38 years in architectural practice, she looks forward to new experiences while continuing to explore and appreciate everything architecture. In addition, she was President of the Atlanta American Institute of Architects and an industry leader, believing that inspired design makes a significant difference in how people live well, learn, collaborate, and create. In her almost 40 years as an architect, she’s led her teams in many award-winning community-based projects, including college and university, public and private K-12, religious, cultural, and recreational/wellness. She attended the University of Tennessee, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and has served on various educational, non-profit, and editorial boards. She is married to Edward Munster and together, they share four children and reside in Atlanta.

Bruce McEvoy, AIA, LEED AP@ BC+C

Bruce was lead juror for the AIA Greenville 2019 Design Awards. He has devoted his career to designing spaces that inspire change, transform lives, and make the world a better place. Throughout his career, Bruce has collaborated with some of the world’s most prestigious corporations, as well as small and emerging non-profit clients. He believes design’s greatest gift is its transformative effect on future generations, and is passionat about advancing Atlanta’s design community. To that end, he serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the College of Design at Georgia Tech and is Chairman of the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA), Atlanta’s only design-focused museum.
